Marriage Boxes
When doing wedding consultations with my couples, one of the questions that is posed is; what would you like to do for the "Unity" portion of your ceremony?
There are so many wonderful options today than times past.
One of my favorite options is the "Marriage Box". When asked more about the box and how it came into being, I share the wonderful story of a poem called, "The Marriage Box". It talks about your foundation to a marriage and that you must put something in before you can take anything out of the box. I asked my husband, who has done woodworking for many years, if he could bring a Marriage Box to life based on this poem. He said of course, and we began creating these keepsakes several years ago.
During the Unity portion of the ceremony, couples will then put in their vows, marriage box poem and other sentiments from their special day.
Now the Marriage Box has become one of my most popular requests by couples.
Today, we receive inquiries on a Marriage Box as an Anniversary gift for each other or from parents to their married children. This has their wedding date and names on the top portion of the lid. If they choose, under the lid they can put a few sentences such as "With joy, laughter and happily ever after" or favorite scripture verses.
