Customized Marriage Boxes
My husband, Mike Schienle with Wind Ridge Wood Crafts has custom designed these “marriage boxes” that are used in wedding ceremonies that I officiate.
Are you curious how this idea came about?
When I read the poem entitled “Marriage Box”; the sentiments were so true and eloqently written. With having a creative and imaginative mind, I decided to bring the marriage box to life and offered it in my wedding ceremonies for couples.
I explained it by having them first read the poem and then showing pictures of the customized marriage boxes that can be used in their ceremony. Then I described what goes into the marriage box which includes: their vows that are laminated and any poems and opening prayers they may choose for the ceremony. Some couples even write their own private vows and place it within the box until one year later and they read them.
With each wedding some couples add different things into their marriage box, including special written messages from the wedding party. Others have put in a memento from their first date together such as a picture.
I began this in 2017 and 95% of all my weddings now choose the marriage box wedding package. Wedding Packages.
Here is the Marriage Box Poem:
“Most people get married believing a myth that marriage is a beautiful box full of things they have longed for, companionship, intimacy and friendship,
The truth is that marriage at the start is an empty box.
You must put something in before you can take anything out.
There is no love in marriage. Love is in people. And people put love in marriage.
There is no romance in marriage. You have to infuse it into your marriage.
A couple must learn the art and form the habit of giving, loving, serving, praising, keeping the box full.
If you take out more than you put in, the box will be empty.”
